The OUTPUT PARAMETERS operator allows you to create and save project parameters based on bits available on the data bus during project processing. This makes it possible to dynamically generate parameter values based on the processed data.
This operator allows you to:
- update or create project parameters based on data from the current data bus stream,
- save individual values or sets of values from data bus bits into parameters,
- use the generated parameters in later processing stages or in other parts of the project,
- dynamically configure project parameters, increasing process flexibility and automation.
The OUTPUT PARAMETERS operator is particularly useful when you want to pass calculation results, intermediate values, or settings generated during process execution to subsequent operators in the project in the form of parameters.
Example of a GRAVITY project using the OUTPUT PARAMETERS operator:
OPERATOR CONFIGURATION
To configure the operator, on the Parameters tab you must specify the data bus bits on which the project parameters will be created.
From the Column to choose from, area, which corresponds to the bits of the operator’s input data bus, select (by drag-and-drop, double-click, or using the navigation buttons) the bit whose value will become the value of the new parameter (the Parameters area).
The parameter name is generated based on the bit name, but you can change it at any time by clicking the field in the Parameters list and entering a new name.
The data type stored in the parameter is determined by the type of the data bus bit used to create the parameter.
On the Properties tab, you must specify whether you are creating simple parameters or array-type parameters.
The system creates an array parameter by taking the value of the corresponding bit from each data bus record.
When selecting the array type, you must define how the parameter array is created when the data bus bit corresponding to a given parameter has null values in subsequent records (the Null for the parameter array element field), as well as how the system behaves when there are no records on the data bus or when the data bus bit corresponding to the parameter value contains only null values (the Parameter array for no value field).
The Null for the parameter array element field allows you to create a parameter array using one of two settings:
- Include null values →
nullvalues are added to the array when they occur in the data bus bit. - Skip null values →
nullvalues occurring in the data bus bit are skipped.
The resulting array will have the following form:
[23, null, 3, null, null, 45]
The resulting array will have the following form:
[23, 3, 45]
The Parameter array for no value field allows you to define which empty value is assigned to the parameter when the data bus bit corresponding to the parameter contains only null values.
- Empty array → assigns an empty array
[]. - Null → assigns the value
null.
The two settings above are related and interact according to the following rules:
- There are records on the input data bus, and at least one value of the bit used to build the parameter is not
null: - the parameter is built according to the Null for the parameter array element setting,
- the Parameter array for no value setting is not taken into account.
- There are no records on the data bus.
- the Null for the parameter array element setting is not taken into account.
- the empty parameter value is assigned according to the Parameter array for no value setting.
- There are input data bus records, but for the given bit all records have
nullvalues:
Parameter array for no value | Null for the parameter array element | Assigned value |
null/empty array | include null values | [null, null] |
empty array | skip null values | [] |
null | skip null values | null |
