VALIDATION

VALIDATION

The VALIDATION operator is used to validate data located on the input bus. It allows you to check whether the values of specified columns (bits of the bus) fall within defined acceptable ranges.

For each record, the system verifies whether the declared value is within the acceptable limits. If a range violation is detected, you can configure one of the following actions:

  • Replace with a boundary value (minimum or maximum, depending on the direction of the violation),
  • Set a constant value (constant), independent of the input data,
  • Remove the record from the data stream if it does not meet the validation conditions.

Validation can apply to:

  • numbers (for example, numeric value ranges),
  • text (for example, length, allowed values),
  • dates (for example, dates that fall within a specified range).

The VALIDATION operator provides a simple way to ensure the correctness and consistency of input data before further processing, eliminating unwanted or invalid records.

OPERATOR CONFIGURATION

During configuration, you specify the column to be validated and the validation action variant.

You must specify the input bus column (see the illustration above) that is subject to validation, the value range that is considered valid, and the type of action to take when the range is exceeded. You can define separate actions for cases where the minimum or maximum value is exceeded.

You can choose the following actions:

  • Limit value → Assign a new value equal to the maximum (if the value is above the maximum).
  • Constans → Assign a constant value if the value is outside the validation range.
  • Remove → Filter out the record if the value is outside the validation range.
