AS2 Server Configuration

The GRAVITY software provides an AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) server. AS2 is a communication protocol based on HTTP(S), widely used for the secure and reliable exchange of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) documents between business partners. It enables the transfer of data in encrypted form, digitally signed, and accompanied by a delivery confirmation (MDN – Message Disposition Notification). These mechanisms ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of the transmitted data.

To configure the AS2 server, select the Configuration tab.

To ensure the correct operation of the AS2 server, fill in the following configuration fields:

  • WebService address - The main server address. The HTTP(S) server will listen on this address.
  • AS2 Server Name - The internal name of the AS2 server, for example: GravityAS2Server.
  • AS2 ID - A unique identifier of the AS2 server. This field corresponds to the AS2-To/AS2-From header and has to be consistent with the values agreed upon with trading partners.
  • Server URL - The endpoint on which the AS2 server listens. This field is generated automatically based on the WebService address and the AS2 suffix, for example: https://192.168.1.1:9010/GravityApi/AS2
  • Authentication - Optional authentication for message-sending partners (Basic Authentication). This restricts AS2 server access to authorized partners only.
  • Private Key Path - The file path to the server’s private key (typically a .pfx or .pem). The key is used to decrypt incoming messages and sign MDNs (Message Disposition Notifications).
  • Private Key Password - The password used to decrypt the private key file.
  • Save Incoming and Outgoing Files - Option that enables saving received and sent files to disk.
  • Incoming / Outgoing Files Path - Paths to the folders where incoming and outgoing files will be stored (if the above option is enabled).
    1. Two subdirectories will be added to the specified path:

    2. Incoming - for incoming messages: C:\AS2\Logs\Incoming
    3. Outgoing - for sent messages: C:\AS2\Logs\Outgoing

A project that is intended to handle an incoming message via the AS2 protocol is triggered based on the definition of an AS2 Server-type trigger.

Since the AS2 protocol manages data exchange between trading partners, registering partners is required for proper data exchange. To register partners, create a partner connection definition using a New AS2 Connection.
