Input Operators

Input Operators

Input operators start every data flow in a GRAVITY project. They are responsible for retrieving data from various sources—both external systems (such as databases, web services, file systems, or message queues) and local files in formats like CSV, XML, XLSX, or JSON.

Each input operator initiates an independent data stream. You can use multiple input operators in parallel within a single project. Each operates autonomously and may handle a different data source. This allows you to build complex projects that bring together data from different sources.

You can control the order in which input operators run during project processing by using the priority parameter available in every input operator’s configuration. A lower priority number means higher execution priority – an operator with priority 1 runs before one with priority 2.

With the flexibility of input operators, you can build projects that process data on a schedule (for example, in scheduled tasks), respond to external events (such as new files or message-queue messages), or run in interactive mode and respond to calls from other projects.
