DLL OBJECT CREATION

DLL OBJECT CREATION

The DLL OBJECT CREATION operator allows you to create an object instance from a DLL library, which can later be used in the DLL CALL FUNCTIONDLL CALL FUNCTION operator to invoke instance methods.

During the execution of the operator, the constructor of the specified class is invoked. As constructor arguments, data retrieved from bits of the input bus can be used, which allows objects to be dynamically initialized based on the data currently being processed.

The created object is:

  • kept in memory for the entire duration of the process,
  • available for repeated use—it can be used by multiple subsequent DLL CALL FUNCTION operators within a single data processing cycle.

This makes it possible to create more advanced integration scenarios in which the object stores state or logic that is reused multiple times during data processing through the bus.

OPERATOR CONFIGURATION

You can use a DLL (Dynamic-Link Library) library or a COM (Component Object Model) object. To create an object instance from a DLL library, select DLL in the Library type field and specify the file path in the DLL path field.

image

In the Type name field, select the class whose object you want to create. Enter the name together with the namespace (as you start typing, the system will suggest the classes it finds).

After entering data in the Method signature field, you will be able to choose from a list of constructors of the selected class if more than one is defined. In the Object name field, enter your own name for the created object; it will then be available for selection in the DLL CALL FUNCTIONDLL CALL FUNCTION operator in the Instance name field.

If the class constructor has arguments, you can use the Auto set arguments type button, which will populate the list of arguments on the Arguments tab.

The Column field contains a bit from the bus. You can change it by clicking the selected field.

You can remove an item from the arguments list by right-clicking the row and selecting Delete from the context menu.

You can manually add a new argument by clicking an empty row in the arguments list.
