CALL AS2

CALL AS2

The CALL AS2 operator enables sending EDI documents to a specified trading partner via the AS2 protocol (Applicability Statement 2), in accordance with the partner configuration that defines transmission parameters such as partner ID, document type, encryption method, and more.

It operates in the context of the data bus, which means that a separate send operation is performed for each record. The operator uses the data contained in the selected data bus bit as the source of the information to be sent.

Within a single processing run, it is therefore possible to send multiple EDI documents — one for each data bus record — to the specified partner, while maintaining full control over the content and transmission configuration.

The operator supports standard AS2 mechanisms such as:

  • digital signature,
  • transmission encryption,
  • MDN (Message Disposition Notification) request.

As a result, it ensures secure and standards-compliant document exchange in a B2B environment. Example of a GRAVITY project using the CALL AS2 operator:

SELECTING AND CREATING AN AS2 PARTNER

The operator sends data to the partner according to the configuration of both the partner and the defined AS2 server. The certificates, cryptographic algorithms, and other data defined in the connection will be used, all of which must be agreed upon with the partner in advance.

To enable communication, you must first agree with the partner on the communication channel, certificates, cryptographic algorithms, message type, and other related parameters.

To configure the connection, go to the first tab, Connection config, in the operator’s properties.

If you already have a configured AS2 partner connection, select it from the AS2 Partner list. The configuration fields will be automatically populated according to the selected connection.

You can modify the data by clicking the Edit button.

Remember that if the connection with the partner is already used by another operator, that operator will also use the modified connection.

If you have not yet defined a connection with the AS2 partner, you can create one at any time using the Add button.

After entering the new connection details, you can save it in the system by clicking Save.

Once saved, the AS2 connection will be available in the system under the name specified in the Name field.

OPERATOR CONFIGURATION

The operator processes each record on the data bus, which means it will send as many documents to the partner as there are records in the data bus. Each data bus record must include a bit containing the data to be sent, as well as bits for receiving the execution status, response message, and message identifier.

To configure the appropriate bits, go to the AS2 properties tab.

Configuration is performed by specifying the appropriate bits already defined on the data bus that contain the required configuration fields.

  • Column with data - select the data bus bit (type: Text or Blob) that contains the data to be sent in the AS2 message.
  • Column for MessageId - specify the data bus bit (type: Text) that will receive the unique messageId value generated by the operator for each sent message.
  • Result column for status - specify the data bus bit (type: Boolean) where the message send status will be stored (true – success, false – failure).
  • Result column for error/message - specify the data bus bit (type: Text) that stores either the send error details or the message returned by the partner.
    1. The structure of the returned message is as follows:

[status]: [message] where status can take the following values (corresponding to the Result column for status field):

    2. processed - the message was sent successfully
    3. failed - the message failed to send
    4. message contains detailed processing information.
