INPUT OTHER OBJECT

INPUT OTHER OBJECT

The INPUT OTHER OBJECT operator allows you to create a data bus based on the output of any other operator within the same GRAVITY project. This makes it possible to reuse previously processed data without duplicating it or passing it manually.

The operator outputs a data stream identical to the one generated by the specified source operator. This mechanism allows you to start a new processing path from a specific point in the workflow—simply provide the name of the operator whose data should be retrieved.

The operator is commonly used in scenarios such as:

  • When you need data produced by the OUTPUT SQLOUTPUT SQL operator, such as automatically generated primary keys (e.g., values incremented by the database or by Gravity’s internal mechanism),
  • When you want to branch the data processing without duplicating logic,
  • When reusing processed data is required in other contexts or later stages of the project.

The operator does not modify the data — it simply redirects the output of the selected operator to a new data bus. It supports the creation of modular and flexible projects by making it easier to reuse data within a single GRAVITY application.

Example of using the INPUT OTHER OBJECT operator:

In this case, the operator was used to retrieve the ID field of a new record added to the database by the OUTPUT SQLOUTPUT SQL operator and return it to the system that triggered the process as a REST API response.

CONFIGURATION

The operator requires you to specify the operator whose output data bus will be used as the new project path.

The selected operator cannot be located on the same processing path as the INPUT OTHER OBJECT operator.

On the Other component tab, select from the list the operator whose output data you want to use to create a new processing path.

The output data bus will be constructed from the output of the selected operator. It will contain the same bits and the same data that the selected operator sends to its data bus during the execution of a given process run.

Make sure that the Priority field of the INPUT OTHER OBJECT operator has a higher value than the bus from which you want to use the operator.
